A sneak peak at the rack and pinion set-up. The rearward arms welded to the K frame (fully boxed and welded professionally using a jig) place the rack in the same position as the draglink, maintaining factory geometry. The rack is a "Kirby Bishop" variable ratio unit from an Australian mid 80s (ahem) GM turd box, the dimensions of which once again provide perfect alignment with the upper and lower control arm pivot points (ie. bump steer non-existant). Incidentally Kirby Bishop, an Oz company, patented the variable ratio rack and make the racks used on US Indy Cars. I still have to have the GM intermediate shaft (which has an inbuilt damper) shortened before I can fit it all up.
