Hey guys, is there some place where I can buy new gears for my rear? I think they are 2.90's now. This gear is good on the highway but its a little hard on the motor when pulling some of the long hills here in southern WV. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not real familiar with the little 7.25 rear but there are several places to buy gears you can check. Randy's ring and pinion, Gears are us, Moser engineering, and Dr.Diff come to mind off the top of my head. Google them and you'll find them.

I'm guessing you could pick up a whole 7-1/4 rear with a lower ratio for a fraction of the cost of new gears.

I bet your right. 7-1/4's don't bring much money. Only problem is he has to find one close enough to pick it up as shipping a rear isn't cheap.

I'm about to purchase new gears myself. I plan on keeping the low gear ratio since my little 170 slant 6 won't ever haul ***, i'd rather it save me some money.

here are a couple of sites where i found some items. I can't seem to find just a shim kit though.

Edit2: It also looks like summit racing has a few parts for a chrysler 7.25 rear end. They had a couple ring and pinion, i think 3.55 and 3.90. the sites above have much wider selection. Looks like they just have pinion shims, if you were looking for a rebuild kit.

here is another site with a rebuild kit.

You might call around cause the 7-1/4 isn't a real popular rearend they probably don't list everything they have for them online.
