When it comes to the grille in a 70 -72 Dart or Demon, what determines whether a particular car was equipped with the one piece grille or the split grille? Plymouth only used the sharktooth grille on 340 Dusters, but all 340 cars didn't get them. Did Dodge have any rule of thumb in determining which cars got the split grille?

never seen any difference in the dart and demon grills. as far as i know they share the same grills for both, 340 or not. only difference is the model year 71 verses the 72.

Hey 7demon2, which is which? I just bought a 71 Swinger that has two sections, with a vertical divider in the center. If this is correct, then what grille does the 70 Dart use? One piece or two? What about 72 Dart and Demon?

ok torquehouse here is a bit of info for you to chew on....hope this helps.
according to the parts interchange manual, the 1970 dart all models used grille part number:2949548 1971 dart/demon all models used grille part number:3573667 1972 dart/demon all models used part number: 3573143

here are the best pics i can dig up for now. as far as the split in the grille for 70 or 71 it is a tough call. the green 72 swinger blackened his grill out. i can't tell the difference between the 70 dart and the 71 dart grille myself. to me they both look like 2 seperate pieces. i know that the 72 grill is 1 piece across with the 2 headlight sections

Thanks demon... I got it now. New to the Dodge Boys thing! Man, it's a lot like trying to explain the sharktooth grille option on 340 Dusters. Ya gotta learn this stuff when you switch from Plymouth to Dodge...
