Trans is in the car, putting converter back in. I lined up the 'tangs' of the pump with the slots on the converter shaft or whatever its called. It slips right in. Watching and reading it seems I need one more engagement but I am not having any luck. I have spun it while slightly lifting. I have turned it and 'cavitated' it. I posted to a local FB page and most are saying it looks seated all the way. Thoughts?

Only because the writeups and the few youtube vids I could find showed several 'events' as you turn it. I suspect because I lined up the pump first I bypassed most of the fun?

well the events are the pump and the splines so it sounds like you got lucky... it looks like it's in to me.. and if you can spin it while pushing and it doesn't go in more it's probably all set :)

Looks like it’s in, I like to hold them at 10 and 2, turning slightly clockwise and counterclockwise until it stops moving back. Here is a picture of my TC fully seated for reference.

It is not always easy to count the engagements, especially when in the car doing it awkwardly.

Lay a straight edge of some kind across the bell housing. The the flex plate mounting lug shown in your picture MUST be below that straight edge, usually about 1/4" to 1/2" or therabouts. If it is not engaged all the way, that mounting lug will usually touch your straight edge or stick out past the bell housing.
