When I rebuilt the trans last year I changed out the stock pan for a B+M cast aluminum deep pan. I have a leak that appears to be coming from the pan seal. I have changed it out twice but still have a leak. I have been using the paper gaskets. Should I try the rubber one?

yes.. anytime you have milled/smooth surface to smooth surface go with silicone/rubber... and don't over tighten or they will leak. this one isn't cheap but if you leak with it something else is wrong...

P.S. i still glue my gaskets so i never worry bout a leak. (a very thin layer of black rtv on bother sides) spread super thin with my finger so it wont' squish into the trans..

Mine pan is usually wet with no constant dripping leaks. I'm convinced my leak is fluid related. Using ATF+4 full synthetic - want to try a conventional fluid to see if it helps. No constant drip - but droplets are always on pan. Experienced this before on my pickup trk. Synthetic leaked everywhere it could. Switched to conventional & it stopped. Don't have any explanation. Next tranny fluid change going to try something different to see if it helps.

Interesting note about the synthetic. That is what I am using.
I will try the rubber gasket first to see if that works. If not, back to conventional ATF.....If it is still available.

Check all 5 of the other leak points just above the pan. Band adjust bolt, low band shaft, NSS, shift shaft seal, dipstick o-ring. Any of those leak and the pan will have drips hanging off it. Don't assume anything

I have been using full synthetic ATF for 25 years.....with silicon only as the 'gasket'....& am yet to have a leak.
