hey guys- I am collecting parts to put my 383 in a recently aquired 69 Valiant. Is there a "correct" 727 tailshaft for the big block swap. Will the car retain the /6 crossmember. I am good on the 8-3/4 already. Secondly, does anyone know of internal differences (heavy duty) on the motorhome 727's other than the tailshaft being different? thanks for the inputs.

A standard passenger car (long) tailshaft 727 will work and will work with the S6 crossmember assuming you are using the correct engine mounts. If you use Schumacher engine mounts for the conversion, everything will line up. You will have to replace or shorten the drive shaft.

thanks Duster440, thought it was the same. I located a fabbed driveshaft from a mopar member today for the swap. yeah, I have the Schumacher set-up- mounts, headers. thanks again.

I was just curious if you were gonna try and make a column shifter work I was gonna tell you how to make it be able to manually grab 2nd and low with the column shifter in a bb dart usually you cant unless you do some minor cutting/grinding on the tranny case but you have an aftermarket shifter so its gravy.

...............M H trannys usually have 4 front clutches, and 4 pinion planetaries front and rear, may or may not have the oldstyle front servo.....if it has the E brake on the rear, u will need to change out the rear shaft as well as the tail housing........kim...........
