Hello All -
I have been scouring the forums and have found a few conflicting pieces of info and would like to confirm / find a resolution for my current predicament.
I have a 1973 340 A883 duster that has been sitting for some time. I have finally got back to working on it and am in the midst of an engine swap. However, when I went to remove the driveshaft, I had a difficult time removing it as the slip yoke bottomed out on the transmission output shaft and did not allow for removal from the 8.25 yoke.
I had to jack the car to the moon to get it removed. This got me thinking that maybe this shaft is too long and I have been loading the transmission because of too long of shaft.
Mine measures ~50.5" C/C of caps. However, In this list I found (hard to read) it looks like my car should have a 49.90" shaft.
What else (outside of axle moving forward - which it has not) should I be looking at here? Can anyone confirm which shaft length the car SHOULD have?
Thanks,
