I just bought a 74 dart custom and wanted to dress it up with some beefier tires. what would be a good size tire/rim that wouldn't rub on the wheel wells? And I might put a 1" lift in the back, so a larger set in the rear is a option im looking at.

15's 15x8 or 15x8.5 or 15x9

with tires at lease 245x60x15 or a little bigger.

255x60x15 , 255x770/15 you get the idea.

at least 15x8 rims with tire 245/60/15...

I'm running 14 inch tires on my '74, and the tires i've got now are 235-70-14's the rears are fine, but if i turn all the way to the left or right, they rub, and i can't have the front wheel moldings on because they kept rubbing and bending out.

225's would probably be the biggest you could have with a 14 inch tire on the front, I dont know about the rear.

no not for the front.

if you are looking to run 70's in the front the biggest i'd recomend are 215/70/14 i had 225/70/14 and they rubbed. you can sacrifice your "mean" stance and have 225's or bigger but your ride stance will be too high and look too "not mean" looking at all.... :blob:fronts are too bad.. to get grong/correct. as long as you have your rears wide and beefy then everything should be fine.

Here was my 73 Swinger with cheapo Summit's 15x8's all the way around.

VERY NICE,

have more photos?

15x8 in the front i dont recommend thought because it limits your tires sizes up front and may cause rubbing with some sizes. 15x7 up front would be better

Here are a few more. Wheels and tires were one of the last things I did before selling.

very nice, i would of loved to see this maybe 1 to 1/2 and inch lower up front to give it that aggressive look!

what did you replace it with? A-body i hope...

Currently on my 73 dart I have 15x6 3.5 backspacing at the front with 215/60r15 tires. The rear are 15x8 4.5 backspacing with 255/60r15 tires. The rear is too high for my liking and I will lower the rear when the new rear end goes in. I highly doubt anything wider will fit on the rear, it is very close to rubbing, but everything seems to work good. The rims are billet specialties street lites if you are wondering.
