I swear I've searched and gone thru the wheel combination thread, but still need a little info. on what I can use based on the title. I know the 8.25 is a little narrower then the 7 1/4 that came out. Obviously this plays with the back spacing. I want to run the 15" Summit "Star" wannabe's. Anyone run the Summit wheels, and how much/which tire did you get away with? No mini-tubes or springs moved - at this point.....
Thx. in advance......

The 7 1/4 in my 68 Barracuda and the 8 1/4 I put in from a 74 dart were the same.

Flange-to-flange on the 7 1/4" 63-72 is 53.200".
Flange-to-flange on the 8 1/4" 73-76 is 51.400". Plus I know I need to shorten the drive-shaft about 1.6" You might be right that the outside drum dimensions be the same because maybe the brakes are wider(?) I have the 2 rear ends sitting next to each other so when I get home, I can verify that. I also see looking at the rear axle chart the 8 3/4" A-body is 51.400" so I guess this might not be as hard to figure out as I thought at first....:read2:

The measurements you are quoting are the housing flange dimension not the axle flange to axle flange dimension.

The axles have different offsets which will make them the same dimension axle flange to axle flange which is about 57" wide for all complete rearends.
