It's not a straight apples to apples comparison... While DR Diff is great and offers many things he was very forthcoming that the stock axle shafts he sells are made in India. While they are prob ok and some guy's even race with them I decided on the dutchman USA made axles after quite a bit of research. The dutchman axles are around $150 more delivered.

What was the price VS Dr. Diff? More or less than $300?

Thanks for the info! I need a set or my Lite and I am just trying to get the best for me.

I think all SS cars became Dana equipped by default in 1966, although it wouldn't surprise me to see an 8-3/4 in one somewhere along the way... I've got the book on the Super Stock history, I'll have to dig it out and see what it says.
Not sure if I am on the right page here. The 68' Hemi Darts with the automatic transmision came with the 8 3/4, but could be ordered with the Dana 60 as an option. All the 4-speeds had the Dana 60.

Pulled one 8 3/4 BBP out of a Duster way back in the 70's or 80's....it must have been made in heaven.....still haven't used it yet.

I have sold some 8 3/4's out of vans. I believe they were a 76' and 78'. They were an 1'' or 1/2 inch wider than the "B" body. Been a while for details, but I know they worked, after moving the spring mounts.
You could get lucky sometimes with those early A100's having a posi too.....they were close in size but had the pads on the top side.....easy fix.

Got lucky this weekend in the 4 Corners Area of our Country with an 8.75 with a 489 Center that came off an D100 I believe.....the perches are indeed on top and the axle housing from axle housing flange to axle housing flange is 59 1/8 long.....If I cut out the 3.5" where the perches currently sit - I'm right at an A-body width...(Close to an A-Body width)

Moser Engineering shows it offers Axle Housing Narrowing for $195 so unless I find a reputable shop that can do it in this area, I might go Moser route.....check the van/truck axle racks if your local JY has one....I did and found the smooth back just staring up at me....
