I have came across a 8 3/4 , A-body rear diff. drum to drum narrowed 3 in. (1 1/2 in. on each side) 742 case, brand new Richmond 4.30 gears, new spool, new bearings seals, truck axles-resplined by Moser, big yoke 30 spline. I'm building a 65 barracuda. Putting in a 340, not stock. I want to put the widest wheels and tires on rear as I can without cutting body no tubbing. 18 inch rims x 9. I talked to a guy at Indy mopar meet several years back. He had a65 barracuda callied Gold Fish on display there. He had put18 x 9s on his car. He narrowed 3in.on both sides to do this without cutting car. Will this rear end even work for what I want to do. Also the truck axles being resplinned and shorten, how dose this hold up with over 400 HP. How about the 430 gears? Driving on the highway or interstates good or bad. 430 with the 340 motor good or bad? Is this worth messing with? Thanks for any in put on this. Mopar new to me, I need help. Thanks
