1977 D150, with what I believe is the stock open 9 1/4" rearend. Spider gears were pretty much worn out, so I ordered up a new set. It's a USA Standerd Gear kit, the only ones I could find listed for my application. They fit perfectly in the carrier, but the new c-clips for them are too thick for the grooves in my axles. My original c-clips are 8 1/4" size, and are too thin (.150" vs .198") and too small of a diameter (1.50" vs 1.615") to fit the new side gears without slopping around. Lots. I'm wondering if they made a c-clip change when the bolt pattern for the wheels grew? I've looked for pass car applications, but so far have either found these gears listed, or someplaces nothing at all. I considered having the groove in my axles widened, but with the larger I.D. of the new clips, it wouldn't leave much meat holding them on. Anybody ever run into this problem?

I may have some from the 9.25" SG below to compare. If I find them I'll post the dimensions.
Have you given any thought to one of these.............

Thanks Dave. What I've found is the part #s for SG and open carrier spider gears are different? Might be something as simple as a different cross pin though, I don't know. The guys I spoke to at Randy's R&P weren't familiar with what I've run into, and I haven't found any mention of it on the web yet. A sure grip is in the works, but a different route as I've got an 8 3/4" to put in the truck. I just don't want to go through the process of doing the axle flip again right now.
