Too Cool For School
I have a friend with a steel bodied 67 Barracuda that is running mid 9s with a W2 headed 408 with an 8.75. He's broken several parts in the axle over the years, but he said the weakest parts left are the ring and pinion themselves. He's broken several sets, but none since he went to pro gears. They are softer and can absorb more shock than standard gears. He's expecting them to give out eventually, and when that happens, he's going to pull the 8.75 and put in a stronger axle.
