Working on a 70 Dart
has 9" brakes
started out getting rid of the left hand studs
by taking the drum off a 71
found out its a 10"

Can I just change the backing plates etc
or do I need to change the spindle also

Can also take everything off the 71
(due to changing it to BBP disc)

the rear is also from the 71
8 3/4 with 10" brakes
we put it in the 70
would I need to get the proportioning valve too

Thanks,
Howard and Gayle

The 71 will also be small bolt pattern unless it has been changed over so
nothing will help on your BBP disc brake change over.

The spindle is different between 9" and 10" so that won't work.

You should be able to buy new studs and just have them replaced in your original if they are still swedged. If the swedges have been removed before you can do them yourself.

i can take all the 71 parts off and put them on the 70
cause thats where i got the 10" drum from, and still want to keep the 70 SB

We just had 71 in the shop stealing the Spool mount K-frame
(I had put in a few years back)

put the spool mount in the 70

The 71, at a later date, was going to put the 73 disc set-up(BBP) on, with another BBP rear
looks like we will be doing it sooner, (to keep it a roller)

may have been posted before,
but, I thought, it would help someone

new spindles can be bought at a fair price I have seen them used and new on ebay also there are a few companies that sell them on the net.
