My friends's 727 wouldn't come out of park easily, sometimes he even had to rock the car back and forth to get it to release. The guy he bought the trans from told him about it, but I'm assuming they thought it was linkage related. No such luck, the problem followed the transmission to it's new home. He pulled it out of the car and brought it to me, and somewhere in the cobwebs of my mind I remembered reading about this exact problem. Sure enough, the park rod was from a 904 (I think the valve body is as well, since it looks like the 904-specific hole in the cheese plate has been opened up with a round file). Easy mistake to make I think, as they really do look quite similar. I had to grab a 727 one and compare to be sure. Just wanted to throw this out there, as a place to check, in case anybody else runs into this problem.

No, there's no adjustent for the park mechanism and the 904 rod is too short. It'll either load the spring on the valve body end and bind up the rooster comb, or pull the nubbin on the end of the rod too far forward and jam between the case and the park pawl. The 904 rod is on the left in the picture above.

o.k. any that i have used adjust the operating length with a set screw or small bolt.
tx for pointing that out.
