I was coming back through Houston on Sunday and stopped at Bucky’s for a pitstop. Low and behold, I see 92 octane no ethanol for sale on the pump. I believe it was about $3.40 a gallon. This beats out the QT 90 octane no ethanol for about the same price. I haven’t checked to see if this is a limited locations or at all Bucky’s.

The ethanol in the fuel isnt what causes issues.

You can look it up. In fact in many places the ethanol content in E10 pump gas is well under 10%.

If I had my way pump fuel would be a real E30. I could run high 13:1 compression on pump gas. Probably 14:1.

That would make me giggle.

I’ve never had issues with fuel boiling and hard hot starting until my current Duster. Despite carb spacers and messing with the float levels, it wouldn’t go away until I started running ethanol free. Not to mention the extra corrosion that occurs to the carb (when setting for extended time) internally. This is just another good option for some of us.

It’s not the ethanol that is making the fuel boil off. I’m not saying you aren’t having issues. I’m saying it’s not the ethanol.

When you buy non ethanol fuel, you are buying a fuel that doesn’t have some of the aromatics that cause the issues.

As EFI became prominent pump gasoline was changed to accommodate EFI. That makes pump gasoline much less user friendly for carbureted engines.
