:mumum: I guess it started when my wife put a huge dent in the side of our work truck. (09 Silverado) Then on the weekend my best friends brother- inlaw was in a bit of a bind, and need some wheels for the day, so I tell him... "no problem you can borrow my truck just drop it off at my house around 2pm". Long story short he gets drunk, scrapes the front bumper-corner across a tree, and also manages to back it into a concrete wall. AND got a $60.00 parking ticket. And I had to go pick-up MY truck myself. Well the damage dosn't look too bad... till I get my quote from the body shop... $1999.00!!!! My bumper step needs to be replaced, rear bumper, front bumper corner, plus paint! (he says he's gonna pay the bill)

Then my shop calls tells me my crank (for my 360 is junk) this is a whole month after it was magnafluxed and I was told it was a good crank. Oh and the block was so bad we had to go 60' thou over.(one month after I was told the block was good to go at 30' over.) Of course this is after I've already dropped off my special order 30' over pistons. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Parts store take em back but charge me a 50% restocking fee.($300.00!) Plus $60.00 shipping on my new JE pistons and $100.00 extra for the 60' over JE's.

The Good news? the guy that sold me the block gave me another crank (no charge) And the block is a 1970 casting the shops says 60' will not be running hot on the street. (I hope there telling me the truth) And the parts store gave $50.00 off on some other items I purchased. Plus the machine shop is gonna give me a break on labor charges due to the mix-up.

Guess thats it. Thanks for the ear! :sad8: (hope this week goes a little smoother :))

Wow, sorry to hear about the run of bad luck...hopefully thats over for a while! I'd be taking the friends brother in law out to the wood shed!!! Needed wheels?? Guess he musta crashed his....drunk is bad enough, but borrowing someone elses wheels and getting drunk???

Like Steve said. It is unspeakable to borrow someone's wheels and then get drunk and crash them... See it on Judge Judy all the time, don't loan out your wheels.

Could be worse:

The doctor calls his patient and says, "I've got bad news and worse news".

The patient says, "Ok, tell me the bad news".

The doctor says, "You have 24 hours to live".

The patient then asks, "What's the worse news"?

The doctor says, "I forgot to call you yesterday"...

Highs and lows, man it is holiday season.Everyone I know is always in a daze from Halloween till New Years.Good luck with the truck, you scored big time on the crank.Good, honest machinists are rare.

Restocking fee? is bullshit and might not even be legal.

I woulda kept em and sold em here, that way the parts store woulda got nothing out of it!

There is no way there is 2K damage on that truck from the pics.
I would charge the drunk for it. And fix it your self.
A smart man would not let him borrow the truck again.

Ok it mite be the por in me my truck looks like pos and well now it is lol but I still would never let any one drive it fro any thing inless im hurt and there taking me to the hospltle . now i have nothing to say bout giving some one a ride .. All they have to do is ask .. well and if im short pay for the gas u know how it gos i know stuff happens like when my mom one day backed in to my old truck and came in crying ify i just did the body work and primed it lol u know what i did i told her to go on like nothing happened i put a new fender on and went on ... Now if he was drunk i would kick hit blank and make him pay for it or tell him to give u some thing of his in turn that would cover what it take to fix ur truck man and way this was alot longer then i wanted but i hope thing work out for u later man .....

Yeah I'm mad at myself for loaning out my truck. I've always been quick to try and help someone out in need. But I don't think it can be so trusting after this. Anyhow will be fixed & forgotten soon enough.
