I've got a '74 Dart 318 with air/conditioning.

Does anyone have a good photo showing how the pivot bolt or bolts on the top are supposed to go. Mine currently has two different bolts up there, and may be missing a bushing as well?

The belts started slipping and I discovered that the front pivot bolt had fallen out. I've replaced it, but something still doesn't seem quite right.

Thanks,

Hi Dan.
Not sure this will be of any use to you... but here goes.
This is a pic of my 1970 Aussie Chrysler VG VIP. Based on the late 60's Dart.
Note it's RHD.
First pic shows the original externally regulated (single field wire) alternator and original mounts.
Second pic is of the later alternator I fitted (dual field wire type - think you call them 'square back') using the same upper mount but a standard lower adjusting arm because the lower AC adjusting arm is too restrictive for the larger alternator to fit.

You can see that the top 'pivot' bolt screws into the AC mount and not the head.

Hope this looks like yours and is of some help to you.

Steve

That's the pic; missing bushings? won't work. Also, put a straight edge across other pullys to alt pulley. Sometimes you have to adjust the bushings.
