Anyone install gauges in 73+ dashes?

I think I'm going to try, but if someone has done it before I kind of would like to see a picture to get an idea how it would look.

I have a picture in my head, but sometimes in reality is doesn't always work the way you picture it.

Suppose you wont be wont be using the stock gauges any more.
Can you break off that half of the circuit board? would the brake light still work on that side? That is really the only light I'd need to be functional. I think?
