Axle Measurment

Did a search, and couldn't find the answer. So I have to ask.

How can I tell if I have a 7 1/4 or 8 1/4 or 8 3/4 axle ?

Where are you measuring from, or can I find it on my fender tag?

If you have a bolt on cover, most likely......

7 1/4"

Or a 8 1/4"

If round with no pan.....probably a 8 3/4"

Crude, but gives a decent idea....

7 1/4 has 9 bolts holding the rear cover on.

8 1/4 has 10 bolts holding the rear cover on.

8 3/4 has a solid back that is welded on.

This might help too but the rear cover is the easiest way.

Looks like its a 8 3/4
Crawled under the car yesterday after Spring Fling, it is solid in the rear, and has 10 bolts in the front around the spline area.
