axle stampings

Is there an axle stamping on the housings to determine year and model they came from? have an exsisting A-body 8.75 that I want to ID, are there differances between the say`67 model to the `71 model, want to upgrade axles and brakes! Rick

On the right axle tube you will have a stamping code about 3 inches along the tube on the back side,this is from the back edge of the center section,this is the side of the tube when you look under the car from the rear.If you sand hard with coarse paper,you will find the codes.Also check toward the end of the right tube also,Mrmopartech

Yes there is,its called ME,and there are only a few searches as differential decoding mopar.Or a generic forum of that and you can find them.I have a few books on the decodes once you get the numbers and letters,Mrmoparrtech
