Big block freeze plug

-
I've had Barr's seal exactly zero leaks.

...but I've had it gum up two water pumps and a thermostat.

Alumaseal, OTOH can work for very small pin holes, typically in radiators, without the possibility of gumming up anything.

I think in this situation- rubber expanding temp plug for the win.

Bob,
Exactly right. And Bars Leak or similar could easily fix the problem.....& you don't end with a bunch of skinned knuckles. It is worth trying for the cheap cost. And what people do not think about [ until it is too late & the plug has been replaced ] is that the hole in the block might have been damaged by careless removal of the old plug. A small nick in the metal that is hard to see...& leaks again with a new plug.
Geez guy. How stupid do you think "People" are? Whenever I replace freeze plugs, I always inspect and dress the holes in the block if necessary. Not every one of us "people" is the totally inept moron you make us out to be. I sure am glad all yall down there aren't as self righteous and sanctimonious as you are.

Me and a buddy pulled the header, steering box and column and worked at it for 3 hours and basically just made a huge hole in it. We tried a pull hammer, we tried a seal puller, we tried rotating it and pulling it. Nothing worked for us, i ended up dropping it off at the shop I'm getting it tuned at and let them fix it. I appreciate all of the recommendations and fixes you guys had. Definitely not a fun thing to deal with haha

Dammit man. I wish you were local to me. I'd fix it up just to meet a new friend. I know that's worthless, but I'd do it.

gm used these (chevy horse pills)
I used to run them in customers cars
those aluminum head 4's would weep cold, and seal up by the time the customer got to the shop
never had them goo anything up

I used to carry some in my service truck.
used on the ford 4's too
(never in any of my stuff)

RRR,
Smart a*s. Many people fix/replace freeze plugs with the engine in the car...... because of the hassle of removing the engine to do the job. If Bars Leaks, or any of the other stop leak products on the market, stops the leak, then that is just as good a 5 min fix as any other fix.
