A lil update on my ole 66 wagon...Or should I say a lil vent'in session...

Finally got it off the Rotisery, and it iz sett'in on all 4's,..haz kelsy hayze 4 piston power disc off a 71 dart, well, actually my donor car is a 71 swinger wit a V-8/auto...Well, az ya'll know, the engine compartment on a 71 iz 1" wider than the engine bay on a 66, az iz the firewall diffrent shape...Well, I fitted the 71 AC unit under the dash, az well az use the power brake booster(which haz a bracket that raises it up over the Valve cover...I got the Tranny yesterday(my buddy fresh'ined it up for me) and I decided to put the motor and transmission in so I could begin to wire it under the hood, az well az git tha tranny off my roll'in table, and open my engine stand...
BE FORE WARNED!!!...That 1" iz a bich!...I have to put the engine and trans in together, because Theres no room to bolt the trans to the motor after engine is in...manifolds, and pipes also have to be layed in the engine bay, before engine is stabbed...I took my time, wrapped ever thang wit rags to keep from scratch'in my new paint(still got a scratch, dammit)...2 hours later, the engine sat on the mounts, and the trans mount wuz installed...I use 69 340 exhaust manifolds(because I don't like headers for the street, and these manifolds will perform az good az headers under 6K)...That 1" slapped tha hell out me agin!!...The manifold hit the powersteer'in box, and the Drivers side valve cover haz to have the brake booster removed to git the valve cover off!!...The drain for the AC hit the transmission, and had to be cut off...After 4 hours, yes, 4 hours ov me and a carbide air grinder wrastl'in under that car, I finally got the pipes on, and a hole 1/4" clearance between the manifold/pipe and the steering box...1/4" clearance between booster and valve cover...I have 4 manifoldbolts to put in on tha drivers side, but I had to wait till tha bleed'in stopped, so az not to mess up my jet coated manifolds...I'm gunna take a couple dayz off to rebuild tha 318 in my boat, kuz a man kan only stand so much fun at a time!!...I would put up sum pics, but My digital camer haz taken legz and walked off...I'll git sum asap, kuz it's a reel pain, but it iz look'in reely sweet so far...

Thankz fer lett'in me vent, and never judge a book by it's cover...OH, if ya wife or girl fren ever mumbles sumpth'in about juss one inch...IT'S A BIGGER DEEL THAN u EVER THOUGHT!!!...REX

Been there, done that... :hello1:

In that case bigger is better!

It was so much fun to read your text , T-REX, finally there is someone who has balls to tell what it takes to make engine/trans swap in narrow body...
