I just got finished taking the heads off my brothers '72 Dart w/ 360. The top of the pistons have .040 etched in them. Doesn't that mean it has been bored 40 over? Also how can I tell what type of cylinder heads I have?

Yes that means it is .040 over and as far as the heads you would need to post the casting numbers and look for any signs of porting, polishing, oversize valves etc. but the casting # will give you the base for the heads.

The pistons move a little bit in the bore. Does that mean the previous owner reused the stock pistons and put in oversized rings?
