Brake light on???

OK folks, Silly question for some of you. But I an going over my "new car" 71 Dart and with the battery hooked up my brake lights are on. What is it that holds to pedel up to the light switch? Is there a spring or is it just the pressure from the M.C.? It is getting old un-hooking the battery every time I park the car. Thanks for the help.

Locate the brake light switch thats behind the brake pedal and the bracket that attaches to the frame under the dash. You should be able to adjust the switch there because the frame is slotted. You want to adjust it into the pedal so the lights will go off.

Thanks 6pk. got it fixed this past weekend. Now my battery wont go dead.
