The oil pump drive and oil pump gear both look good… not sure if the cam is worth sending to Ken @ Oregon.

Is there any chance this could be reground?

When they regrind a cam, the material (for the most part) comes off the base circle. Not the top of the lobe. But like Rusty said, have Ken look at it. You’ll be limited to what he can grind out of it regardless.

I think that's a question only Ken can answer. I'm gonna guess that yes, he probably can, but you won't know until he sees it.
Thanks Rusty, Ken said Yes...

Next question: how do I go about sending a cam? cardboard tube, schedule 40 PVC? And the lifters in a separate box, or maybe in a bag inside the tube?

I like the PVC idea, even though I've sent in cam boxes in the past. I wouldn't put lifters in anything like a bag where they can bump and rattle all over each other.

Wrap the cam with a round of cardboard, then put it in a pvc tube with caps and box it. The parcel service tosses them boxes...

The cams always come back wrapped in rolls of cardboard in the grinders specific box.

Thanks Illahe, that is easy to do. I will get on it!

And the lifters will be packed some way that keeps them apart... maybe separate or maybe in the same tube..

It's your money, me I'm tossing that in the scrap pile. That core is borderline.

Sent Ken the same pictures, Not disagreeing with you... but kinda hoping it is useable as the oil pump gear and the oil pump itself both look really nice.. That is the major driving factor to try and get it reground...

Is the core rare? I was at Kens several years ago, and he had hundreds, possibly thousands of cam cores of various type.

That musta changed. When I talked to him last, he said he was hurtin for um. That's why I sent him one of mine.
That sucks... He said that they sold to an engine warehouse when I was there. You have a point, because there was a trailer with a couple hundred cores in it. Probably scrapped by the new owner.

That blows. Delta cam may have some. They're purdy good, too.

The cam I pulled out of my Dart looked only slightly better. I later found out Ken successfully reground it.

For me it would be some sort of RV grind.. Dutra RV10 or RV15 RDP cam.
I honestly think Ken has better grinds than those, but do what you want. I can tell you this. Ken only grinds what is on his list. So if you want Oregon to do it, you choose from their list. They have some excellent grinds.

I'm open to suggestions for a cam that is about maximizing torque potential.. 4000RPM is probably the top of the realistic RPM range.. and usually 1200-3000 in each gear.. will add compression, and maybe larger valves..
