Camshaft Question

Hi Guys,

i have a Question, I have a Purplecam here and can´t find anything about it. The only Numbers on the Cam are:

On Dist.Side: 221001
Same Area: 22
And between 1 and 2 Bearingarea: 1136 (pic.)

Can anybody help me? That Cam runs in a 340.

The 221 001 is not a part number of the era. Mopar part numbers that I have run across are 7 digit numbers. Space permitting, there are 4 numbers, a space, three more numbers.

I used a Purple Shaft on an engine rebuild that had what looked like a dark purple dye on all of the non-friction surfaces. This shaft does not look like what I had.

I'm away from my books right now, but will check and give you an update when I get back to them. BTW: If it runs in a 340, it will run in a 273, 67 & later 318, and a 360, too.

Other than the marks on the snout of the cam, I can't tell if it was previously used. Could you tell me what it came out of?

Thats a purple shaft for sure and looks new.

Just measure the base and add the height of the lobe to get the lift then match it to specs listed for purple shafts.

It also looks like a hydro by the look of the ramps.
