Looking to see what the correct type of Carb for my Lancer GT is. The one that is on it is a B&B but does not have the tag so I do not know the exact type. Have not found anyone that sells one maked for a Lancer GT and wondering what to do about getting a new one. I went to rebuild the old one (got a kit for B&B types) and the person that did it last really messed up the Air Horn Assemble as it is bent and will not get a seal around the main body assemble unless I put three gaskets on it. So I need to get another carb since this one is toast. I put the three gaskets on and it started and ran fine. Now it will not start and I really would just like to get a good replacement for it.

There is no special carburetor for a GT vs. other '62 Lancer models. 1962 Valiants and Lancers were equipped with Carter BBS or Holley 1920 carburetors depending on what was on hand at the factory at any given time. Carburetor differences were throttle bore size (1-9/16" for 170 engines and 225s in fleet service; 1-11/16" for 225s in non-fleet service), venturi diameter, presence/absence of PCV valve hose nipple (PCV mandatory in CA and NY in '62, optional everywhere else), jetting and calibration and spark advance port location for manual vs. automatic transmission and taxi/fleet vs. non.

Sounds like your carb is pretty well brutalized by someone who reefed too tight on the through-bolts. That'll warp a BBS or BBD every time, over time. It is very difficult to get a good carb any more for the old applications. "Remanufactured" ones are junk. See links off the thread where Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted, here. Best advice is to put a want ad up and hope someone's got a nice new carb for you! Fit-and-function interchange is '60-'66 A-body (Valiant, Lancer, Barracuda, Dart) with 170 or 225 engine except '65-'66 with factory A/C (different throttle hookup).
