Carter 2bbl / intake replace? max MPG please

So what I have is a 1969 318 Barracuda. Its only got 114k on it so I am not going to go past the intake until I need to. I think the accelerator pump is gone; I have to roll on the gas really slowly or it will stall. The only mod it has is dual 2" exhaust with high flow mufflers.

I want a bolt on solution for the carb that will get excellent mileage. HP is nice as a by-product but right now and into the foreseeable future I just want the MPGs. I might replace the stock intake at the same time if someone can convince me that it will help MPG.
