Is there any way without the build sheet and the numbers it provides to id a '68 Barracuda Chassis to the vin/title? I just went last night and looked at a '68 Barracuda shell and susequently bought a '68 Barracuda shell which I was just wondering if there was any way for me to verify that the title and dash with the VIN plate on it actually go with the chassis. I will be returning to pick the chassis up in two weeks and just want to make sure everything is legit prior to money changing hands. I don't believe there was any foul play, but I prefer to be cautious. If anyone can give me insight as the slight amount of research hasn't turned up much.

Thanks

In 68 they used the fender tag SO number to match the core support and left rear quarter panel numbers. If one is off see if the other jives.

There is No definitive way to tell for a 68 if you have no
build sheet - has all info needed
fender tag - has body info, but no VIN
certicard - has VIN and build date and some other info that should match up with Fender Tag.

When this info is missing and being sold as a value car you need to price accordingly. For 67 and earlier you can order the build card from Chrysler Historical. A fire and the water used to extinguish it in the Chrysler records storage building took out all the records from 68 on.

Here is a 67 I have and how it connects together.

In this case the fender tag shows C12 02672, C12 = December 12 1966 build date, and the rest of the SO number connects.
The body number is 72C1202672. 7= 1967 model year, 2 = Hamtramck factory, C12 Dec 12 rest is the SO number

Certicard does have VIN BH23E72xxxxxx
the trim is same H6V, and paint is same WW1, 5 on fender tag and T5 on certicard = auto trans, AX-4 on tag and SA on certi = standard axle and finally C12 on fender tag and the I2I2 they used I instead of 1 or C on certicards = December 12th again.

Fender tag dates used are, 1-9 is Jan through Sept and A-B-C for Oct through Dec. So 219 is feb 19th, A10 Oct 10 and so on.

I hope this helps?
