Are you talking about the cluster gear right there in the center of the picture? Which is OD.

the gear in the middle of the picture near the bottom of the picture about five teeth up from the bottom, there is about half of one tooth missing, I would have used an arrow to mark it but I am not the computer smart, sorry

Right that is OD or high gear. If you were asking me if I would use it I would tell you it depends on what the application is? If I had another trans I would use it or if I had to Iwould replace the cluster.

Ok well I figured that is the right answer, I do have a parts trans that has a good gear, I just wasnt expecting to do that but if it should be done now is the time, BTW, the use is behind a mild performing 318 in a 70 Duster, my sons car, not intended for anything but a summer cruiser but never the less....it comes apart, argh, thanks

Not sure how old your son is? But I'm thinking back to my youth, I could tear up an anvil with a feather! Probably a good thing to replace it.

Funny..you are right however he is a young Dad in his twenties so slightly more responsible than when we were teenagers, lol thanks, BTW, I see you get even less sleep than me, up late and up early and your east coat time! must have been all that late night election partying, congratulations to your new president, I will bet you are all glad its over!

Yeah being retired, I keep weird hours. But last night I was watching election results. All the way till they announced at 2:43 AM EST that Trump had won. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, I am hopeful.

Was it in service before this, or did you buy it used?

If it was in service and didn't fail, it probably won't now.

There, I jinxed you, it will probably break when you put lube in it!

If you're going to take it down that far, I recommend a rebuild kit for a $100 with new bearings and seals and such.

well I do have the seal kit but the rest looks fine so far, I will know better when I am in there, this project has already gotten bigger than I wanted, although nothing unusual there, lol
