1967 brought us collapsible steering columns, dual circuit brakes, seat belts, flat inside door handles, bear claw door latches, windshield washers, backup lights, 4 way flashers, padded dashes, and emission controls. '68 added side marker lights, neutral safety switches, and the VIN tag was moved to the dash. '69 we got locking steering columns, head rests, and shoulder belts after January 1. There's probably a few things I left out, but the first year for mandated safety equipment was '67 and some of the rules were a little vague. For instance, in '67 you needed a collapsible steering column or a padded steering wheel hub, which is what Ford did that year.
