Colorado guys or anyone,

What is involved in getting a bonded title? If you buy a car with just a bill of sale, is it safe? 67 Mopar I'm looking at.

Thank You

i know that you should have the VIN # ran through the DMV and the cops to make sure there is no lean and the car isnt on a hot sheet. i got a new title for my superbee through a tow company after it was cleared. it was around 200 bucks. this was not a salvage title ,but a clear colorado title. it was a few years ago, cant tell you if things have changed, but i would make sure the car is clear before buying it. the DMV here in the springs doesnt require a bill of sale . if you can take the owner down with you, they can transfer everything right there without any paperwork, if this is an option.

Make sure that the the purchase price for the car on the bill of sale isn't under I think $600(need to look this up) either...othewise they now won't issue a title for it or it's a salvage title.....a friend of mine's dad has an old Hudson ratrod that he was trying to get titled and becasue it was purchased at a low dollar amount, one of the above happened...wish I could remember which.

I was just checking into this yesterday. For a bonded title, I had an officer run a certified vin inspection. Which got me the last registered owners name and address. I have to send a registered letter with intent to title. I have to get the car appraised, which the dealer here in town will do for free. The cost for a bonded title is $10.00 for every $200.00 in value. Then the DMV will title the car in Colorado. My car was last titled in Utah. I'm looking at roughly $120.00 to get mine done. This will be an original title not a salvage title. If I can help pm me.:coffee2:

thank you for that info ! im suprised to hear that it has actually gone down in price. with all the new road and bridge taxes , my charger tags jumped from 29$ to 88$ a year.

this is useful bcoz im fixin to bond for a title for a 68 dart that i had bought as a parts car and now i stand back and look and think....Wow the parts car is a nicer car than the one its supposed to fix.........

I went and looked at the car. Wheel well and lower rear quarters. The kicker for me is the rear frame bumper support/valence area is rotted & the right side of the torsion bar crossmember is rotting. So I passed.

Thank You for all the information guys!!!
