I did a search on this and found some info but the problem i have is,I had a /6 and a 904 swapped in a 360-727 now my shift linkage down between the frame and trans isnt lining up.I see the cross shaft has to be shortened but the frame bracket and trans bracket are at different hights.
Do i need different brackets? or am i doing something wrong. The car is a 69 Valiant.
Thanks Tim

Anybody have linkage out of a 727 small block car they want to sell?

Tim,

The parts that I know are different between 904 to 727 are the trans bracket and torque shaft. Here's a part number breakdown

Trans bracket
904 - 2781429
727 - 2800942

Shaft
904 - 2781425
727 - 2800939

The rest of the rods appear to be the same part numbers.

You may be able to shorten your current torque shaft. We do that all the time when pulling a /6 manual and installing a V8 manual trans deal. I have a transmission from a 727 column shift A body, I'll look and see if it has the bracket still attached.

yes shorten the torque shaft about an inch...index it in 2 places and weld using a small piece of angle iron to line it up
mount the trans bracket below the tab instead of above...
