convertor problems

I own a 73 duster 360..with a 727 trany....the problem I'am having is that I ordered a 2,400 hole shot convertor....but the two slots on the snub are smaller then the original torque convertor....which won't let it fit into the pump......anyonr else run into this problem....Please help
