Since we have to have marker lights here in Pa. i been thinking of making some kind of custom marker lights for the Scamp, nothing radical just something other than stock.

Thoughts? Opinions? Smartass comments?

If you do and if you don't get federal DOT approval they will be illegal. Automobile manufacturing laws are federal not state.

Ok, so Dont "make em"..LOL I just cant think off hand what other MOPAR side marker would look good, maybe something recessed?

I wasn't saying don't use them, I was just stating the fact that if you do make your own they would be illegal if they weren't DOT approved. Lord knows I do all kinds of thinks to my car that are not "approved" by the DOT, I don't care one bit.

If someone cared about using approved lighting on their car and wanted to change it you don't have to stay with just Mopar lighting. All lighting on cars is already approved, so you could put other manufacturers lights on your car.

One of my favorite side markers on cars are on the first generation Firebirds, they had a side marker shaped like a bird.

My favorite Mopar side marker is the '68 marker, that nice simple little round one.

I understand the DOT thing but it's not like i would be doing away with the marker lights just changing them, they would still function and be the legal colors of orange and red.
My idea is to do like some street rodders do with there taillights have a some kind of shape cutout and have it lit from behind, maybe with LEDS.
I figure if since they can do it with taillights and brake lights why can't i do it with marker lights?

Iv'e seen a set of ghost marker lights. They were smoked lensed to match the burgundy paint. And when lit up they were pentastars. Very subtle, I just barely noticed them. The owner said that he has had them on there for years and nobody ever notices. I was one of the few.
