Was working on getting the front end apart on my old '69 Barracuda parts car. Took off the sway bar which had one mount ripped through, bet that helped the handling immensely. The passenger side torsion bar had no tension as the torsion crossmember had long ago given up and broke free. I unloaded the driver's side torsion, went to pull the clip out of the back of the bar... no clip.
It had been booger welded in.
Probably just going to cut the bar.

Some people should not procreate.

I feel for you. :BangHead:
IF you want to try to save the bar, I'd just cut the T bar socket through about even with the end of the bar, using a cutoff wheel. That should take care of most, if not all, of the booger weld. If it still won't come out, then cut what's left of the crossmember and then you can deal with it on the bench.

I have 2 sets of original bars I can use. I'd rather not use this one, I don't think I'd trust it after being welded on.
I don't need it, just was amazed at the stupidity.

By the looks of the torsion bar cross member you need more then just the bars. You need to replace that cross member due to it being rusted, broke free and repaired once before. And if the cross member is that bad how much rust extends into the rails. Go around the area with a pick hammer and see how many holes you poke through.

Um, that's his parts car that he's stripping down...

Thank God.

I didn't read that part of the thread. I have seen some pretty bad cars people drive. There was aluminum over this mess and I squashed it putting it on the lift. He then told me I ruined his car.

Holee sh**.
Not uncommon in this part of the country, either.
Guy had a lot of nerve to claim you messed his car up; but that kind of thing is also why I don't do work for other people anymore.
