Lots of good places to live within 30-45 minutes of Fort Worth, although road construction on major arterials is currently slowing things down. If you can avoid traveling through the downtown area, do it.

We just built a retirement home on 1-1/2 acre in rural Denton County, about 30 miles north of Fort Worth, and it's our favorite area since Denton is a nice medium sized city with everything we need. My wife is a retired Realtor, so knows the area well and could suggest places to look if you know exactly where you will be working and what type of home you prefer.

Hello. I live south of dallas so I can't help you with the fort worth side, but I can tell you it's DFW is a great place to live. good luck with you plans!

I'm in Keller, suburb on the North side of Fort Worth. This area, along with Southlake, Grapevine and Colleyville, are all experiencing big time growth right now. Lot's of choices in housing, shopping, schools, etc.

South of Fort Worth, the area to look at is Mansfield. It, and the surrounding communities are the hot spot for that side of town.

I also work for a gas/oil company (not allowed to use the name on public forums), and my office is based out of downtown Fort Worth. It's a nice 15-20 minute commute to work.

Compared to Michigan, this would have to be near car guy Nirvana. Year round driving season (had the Scamp out for a nice long cruise today, it was lower 70's temp), tons of activities (several tracks close by, Cowtown Mopars club, etc.). All in all, not a bad place to be.

If you have any more questions, I'd be glad to help.
