Like the Title say's two shows today, First time I have done this. Going for Best Mopar Trophy's in both Shows. The second show was cut a bit short due to some really heavy
Thunderstorms coming through Dawsonville, Ga. Left the show with a medium light sprinkle, Was wishing I had intermittent wipers. Was going to get some more rec 90
on the way home and a cold beer long before anticipated. The show ended almost 1.5 hours earlier than expected. Everyone was headed out so I did the same. About Halfway
Down the "Famous Thunder Road" there was a raging Torrent running across the road! I came up on it rounding a corner and had no time to react!

I was running 40-45 MPH and thought I was being careful! Next I know I am doing 360's and trying to Steer into the spin to no avail! Off the Road and hit One dead Tree and then center punch two 18" diameter oak trees!
My I-watch Calls 911, I have no Idea were my iphone flew to, everything was just a flash of something I wanted no part of! Bleeding from my right elbow, but at my age any little scratch and I bleed like crazy!
Other car show people start coming by and stopping and running to the woods to check on me. What a Great group we all are!!!! The Dead tree I hit first came out of the ground and had me High Centered and cockeyed to the right.
It was 5 foot drop out of the driver door to the ground. Once I got off the I-Watch call with 911, A couple of the folks first on the scene helped me get out of the car. I am pretty much in disbelief of what just happened to me! All the people were so great and truly caring, Dawson Fire, Police, Show folks, A Big Shout out to AACFA Car Club a late model Camaro club! I hope Haggarty Is as good as they claim!

Damn man, sucks to see that, hopefully you can get it back in shape.
Those drag radials probably didn`t help much. Good luck.

Glad you are OK. That’s my biggest fear driving my Cuda in the rain is losing it like that.
I could have been home with one Trophy relaxing and enjoying a wonderful Cuban Sandwich! This really Hurts! The fenders are ok. No Antifreeze or Trans fluid seen.

8QT Moroso oil pan sheered off! Oil every Where! Reproduction Accurate Exhaust Trashed! I do have a new 893 Pan and pick-up all painted and pretty Check that box! Still in disbelieve and on a liquid diet for tonight!
will evaluate more next week!

NASCAR :thumbsup:Approved Rain Tires
Maybe for a light intermittent shower ....but...

".....there was a raging Torrent running across the road!....."
Not sure that was what they meant in the 'rain approved' rating.

Sorry about the damage you sustained. I'm sure you'll have it back together again in no time at all.

By the way, This was an extra crazy event. There was no reported cross flow on Thunder Road until I passed Through. In North Georgia sometimes there are limbs and that catch leaves
and pine combs and more. Until the water backs up just enough on the hill above and these let loose no one knows and there is no warning!

Trying to shake it off! I am pretty devastated. Sometimes it help to to make light of ones own predicament! Once again thank you for your concern, it is very appreciated!

That is too bad. I have admired your car for a long time. I have a 69 FB as well. I hope you have good insurance. The LAST thing you need right now is a hassle getting your car fixed. I am glad you are OK.
Did you get your cold beer?

Only on #2 but 3/4 of a jar of apple pie shine down the hatch! Thanks for asking!

The good, Both Fenders, Headlight Bezels, Marker light's survived. Hood, Header panel,Valence, Grills, Bumper and more went by,by!

I know it's an old cliche but it couldda been worse. A LOT worse. I'm really glad it wasn't.
I am trying to look that way Rusty. The Doors stills open and close like perfection, so I think the frame may be ok, time will tell! that front Bumper looks horrific though! Have not tried to open the hood to check
the most expensive Radiator. Will give a week to learn the results.

From the MT website:

  • D.O.T. approved for street use
  • Equivalent tread void as the ET Street Radial II, redistributed for improved hydroplane resistance while providing plenty of tread contact for excellent dry traction
ET Street® S/S

This was a 6-8" deep flow from nowhere! Doubt the best of street type tires could handle it! Only Deep Cut OffRoad Tires like the 36" BFG'S on my 74 PW W100!

Damn, sorry to read, always loved your car! I dread something similar happening to me. You've got the skill to bring it back to glory.

That sucks…I am glad no one was hurt and sounds like you will be rebuilding in short order. I too have experienced the rain versus “street” tires and the 360’s that came out of nowhere. We were lucky that day as I kept it between the ditches and all my passengers still talk about it to this day. Someone was watching over us for sure.

You set out to do what you planned to do and you did it I'm so sorry for your problems on the way home we've all had them just not such a nice car but I'm sure your health is the main thing the car is secondary..Damn who would have expected such a thing like that..I'm sure there were some passersby cars that thought it got away from you from horseplay...We know better..only kids drive like fools..best wishes to you and your car..It's still a beautiful car...remove the bad metal and you will feel better when you look at it...

Regardless of the blame, tires, weather whatever, the car didn't roll, and you're less damaged than the car. Reality is the more you look at it the worse that you'll feel and the worse it'll look.

Well, I know this is hindsight BS and all......but now you know. If there's ever a next time, either pull over for a bit or CRAWL through it. It's a gorgeous car. You'll get it fixed. Just really glad you didn't haave to fix YOU.

I am sorry to see this.I run the MT's on my GTS and try to stay out of the rain with it. I don't take it to track so I will be going back to street tires after these burn off. Hope insurance does right and you can get it back better than ever asap, Joe
