Differential Fluid Drain

I'm going to change the fuild in my 8 1/4" open diff. Do I use the gasket or just some RTV? If I just use RTV, which is better to use? Also, what are the torque specs for the bolts and drain plug? Will they be different between using the gasket or RTV?

......so yeah, just help out with as much info as you can.

if the axle cover is straight and nice i would just use the gasket..
