distributor with or without vacuum advance

I have a 273 Barracuda distributer that I am upgrading from the orginal to magnetic pickup style with an all new ignition system. I have a two barrel carter carb that had a vaccum advance connection/port that the old distributor supplied. My new distributer doesn't have a new vacuum advance installed/ not sure if am able to swap the old vacuum advance setup off old distributer and put on new one(not pinned to do so anyway). I want to know if I try starting the car with the carb vacuum port plugged and and no vacuuum advance setup on distributer, if this will have a negative effect on the car and if it should be able to start and run.

My Msd system has no Vacuum advance and it all works just fine. It was all on the car when I got it so I don't know much about it yet. But it works very well.
