I love my mopars but 727 for small block aren't getting any easier to find... Has anyone on here done the ultrabell to adapt a small block Mopar to a th400 or th350 trans? What all do I need to make this swap. NOT FOR STREET CAR, I know I need to cut bell housing for the ultra bell and obviously a flex plate any help from anyone who's done this
 
727 A Engine transmissions are not that hard to find.
I have a bunch.

Even a 904 built for performance is fine for most bracket
cars. My Dart with a 824HP Big Block (Got to Final in Pinks Allout)

Either one is more efficient and generally faster than a 350/400 in Drag Cars.
There is a reason that most Stock/SS GM cars run a Metric 200 instead even thou
the can be time bombs.

Even with shipping they would be way less than an adapter and related parts for the
conversion. They (727) can be found easily for $200 to $250 most anywhere.

I see tons of SB 727's in the Mid Atlantic area on FB Marketplace. The 93-96 47RH's seem to be hard to find around here.
 
This is for demo derby, why do we need overkill? If finding 727 is tough go the cheap route and use all gm running gear, its just a smash up car.

You're right about the 904. With the right parts and proper assembly they're fine in a race car. My ex boss had a 6.9 @ 201 MPH BA/A car that ran a 904. It was the companies test mule.

Too bad you are not closer, I saw a real nice small block 727 in a van at the yard the other day, probably go for $100. I have 2 rebuilt spares already and no more room. What a shame. Have you looked at vans and pickups? I'll second using a 904 before cobbling a GM trans for your Mopar. Sounds like a boat load of money and work to put an inferior part in a Mopar. My best friend in high school had a Camaro and put three TH350's in that poor car. Meanwhile we put 400,000 miles on a 904.
 

It needs to be over kill to compete in today's standards of "smash it up car". It's not what it was in the 80s and 90s. The 727 or 904 ever hold up shifting forward to reverse wide open like we do sometimes. I've never wrecked a 400 or 350 but I've wrecked many 727s and the 904 just can't take the abuse we put them through. I'm just looking for other options we run drive line brakes but unfortunately when it's the heat of the run you don't always have the chance to lock the brakes before shifting
