So far the best deal that I have found on a drill bit set for measuring the jet size on Thermoquads is the Harbor Freight cheapie carbon steel 115-piece drill bit set for $40.00. The jets I want to measure are around .09" - .10", and the set contains 5 or 6 drill bits in this range. I think this drill bit set may allow me to tell the various TQ jets apart. I'm only going to use these drills for measuring jets and the like.

Does anybody know of a drill bit set that would be better than this one for measuring jet sizes?

Mine is a number drill set I got from MAC 30+ years ago around 15-20 bits.
It says "Hand use only" . As long as they work for you,go for it.

for strictly measuring purposes I would recommend a pin gage set for the range that you want. If you don't already have one, I also recommend getting a micrometer to go along with this. It is really easy to take 2 sizes out of the box at the same time and when they are 0.001 different in size, you won't be able to tell them apart visually so a quick measurement will tell you exactly which pin you are holding.
Drill bits don't always sit perfect inside a hole because you only have a couple contact points where the edges of the drill flute touch. Also these edges are sharp and can cause unwanted burrs inside the bore. Additionally, you can't rely on the shank of the drill bit either because it may or may not be the same diameter of the flute cutting surface so it'll be inaccurate as well. Long story short, drill bits aren't appropriate as measuring tools.
For what you are doing, a set of Pin gages off Amazon should be sufficient.

If you know exactly which sizes you want, you can buy individual pins as well, I've seem them range from about $5-$15 per pin

I bought a HF drill bit set for ~ 20.00?
I use the bits as a gauge pin by using the shank end.

I put the bit in the desired hole till I find one the fits well then try the next size up, it makes a go /no-go . Then I measure the shanks with a caliper and I'm as good as I need to be.
