Hey all,

Got a few questions regarding the install of my Edelbrock 1406. I’ve got a 72 Duster with a 318. It came with a Weiand intake and Edelbrock 1406. The last year of owning this car, it’s been hard to start. Finally after some convincing from some buddies, I replaced the carb with an identical Eddy 1406. The Duster fires right up now on cold start. However, it goes right up to 2k-2100 rpm. Once I give the throttle a tap it goes down to around 1500 rpm, and another tap gets it down to around 700-800 rpm.

My question, is the 2k rpm normal for the high idle at cold start? And if not, how do I adjust that? Is it a problem with the idle adjustment or the choke adjustment?

Thanks for any help. Had this car for about a year and still trying to figure it all out!

Yes. Normal high idle when the choke is on. Yes. It's adjustable. Read the instructions.
