Drew 1 of 25 tags for an Archery hunt and it paid off last weekend ! Killer hunt.. worked this badboy for 5 hrs....
We were 5 miles back in. Ever carry a 340 for 5 miles straight up a mountain ? lol

There used to be a few more trees on that ridge....lol He went to town on a few while we were bugling him....awesome sight !

He was going crazy but would leave his cows and come to us....so we had to go to him...

We knew he was done when we found my arrow....

For those who have never witnessed a Bull Elk bugling it's a surreal experience.
 
Yeah...my Girlfriend thought it was cruel until I explained the difference between his life and that of a Beef Cow that she would eat... At least the Bull lived free and had like 35 Girlfriends.....lol
 
I know the feeling. I shot a monster tom turkey this spring and the grand kids were asking me tree huger questions until they ate him. Now they cant wait for Grandpa to shoot another on September 15th. :elmer:
 
Ha.... Melissa just texted me about Elk recipes....She got over it quickly.
