Bear with me here, I have an Enco 110-3051 lathe that I want to retrofit with a spindle brake. I am trying to use as much off-the-shelf material as possible and plan on using some Grizzly parts from their G709 lathe which is very close to mine. I think I have everything figured out with one exception. If you look at the parts breakdown

https://cdn0.grizzly.com/partslists/g0709_pl.pdf

on page 79 I can't comprehend how item 51 interfaces with item 53. Item 51 seems to be retained with a snap ring, item 52, but that would require item 53 to be countersunk on the back for snap ring clearance as item 53 bolts flat against the headstock housing.

Grizzly uses this approach on a number of their lathes, along with the G709, they use the same approach on the G776, and the G824. Has anyone ever had item 53 off a lathe and looked at the back? What is the arrangement for item 51?

Before anyone suggests contacting Grizzly, I worked all the way up to a department head and they stonewalled me. So, if any one can help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
