Anybody ever tried the "U Coat it" brand?

I'm thinking about using it in my new garage.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have never tied that brand, but it has been my experience that most "generic brands", ie sold to the public, aren't the best products. Because I am not familiar with this brand I can not say either way. The key to any floor coating is the preparation. The floor should have no sealer on it, other wise the coating will not bond to the substrate, instead it will lay on top of the sealer, and will more than likely peel or pop off. If the floor is sealed, it will need to be wheel abraded, (steel shot blasting), to make a profile on the floor for the coating to bond to. If the floor is not sealed, a vary good acid etch will do the trick. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I have done a lot of floors professionally. I am leaving to go fishing tomorrow in Canada for the rest of the week.

I used the Rustoleum brand from Home Depot. I give it a solid 8.5. It has held up very well (dogs) and it is only now, after 3 years starting to show some pulled up spots. Cleans up with soap and water.

Prepped with simple green, purple stuff, and the weak citric acid they provide,+ a pressure washing.

I have a garage floor that was previously painted gray....it's old and worn, and I'd like to use a U-Coat-It style...........

In NY, I acid etched my floor first (before a floor enamel), and it ruined the top layer of concrete....after about a year, it began to flake off......not just the paint....the concrete........Needless to say, I was a little upset......and we followed directions to the letter.

I'd like not to have to "strip" the entire floor before I coat it........Is there any other way to prep besides blasting or acid? :read2:

I have a restaurant epoxy painted the kitchen, prep and cooler room not worth money for this type application. Thanks Kevin.

Tony Call me

I didn't use U coat it because I thought they were too expensive, (they sell in kits for standard garage and you need for sq feet, think I needed 3 kits) I had a guy do my floor and it looked great and was reasonable when I had it done. I'm sure it is more now but he gives discount for large areas. You will not be disappointed in Mikes work.
