Cancer....woman down the road had a go-around with breast cancer a few years back....now she is battling breast cancer and ovarian cancer as well....she has been going for chemo for a while now.....at least she is still smiling...

Yes, it is.

Ironically, I just pulled up this thread as ESPN is interviewing Jim Kelly and his latest round with the beast.

My wife lost a grandmother, mother, older sister, and two aunts, terrible disease.

Yup. Took both my parents, my grandmother, my Aunt and cousin have both battled it. My father in law went through prostate cancer. Took his wife, my step mother in law. It took my friend I met right here and later in person, Bruce Budbill. So yeah, I am all to familiar with it. But as Old Man Ray said in another thread, you have to move on. I do get down from time to time and wonder why, but I cannot let it drag me down. I have too many other things trying to do that.

Yep keep the good memories in your head and move on. At least that's what gets me thru.

Exactly so. As the years go on, I find it more difficult to remember any bad memories.

you are too awesome of a person to let anything negative bring you down. keep looking ahead and keep your foot on the gas and don't stop.

Yes it is, yes it is!!!!!
It's taken a few good people from me.

Other than Ernie's breast cancer have never had any one in my family fighting with it. Then again, the way most of my family used to drink most of them probably had pickled innards...

Grandpa on my Dad's side had the Irish 7 course meal for dinner daily.....a 6 pack and a baked tater....

My Mother, three Aunts and two Uncles on my Mothers side of the family.
None on my Fathers side (they all died of being really frickin old) like over 100.
I sat by my Mother in her livingroom on a hospital bed and told her "If at any time you decide you would like to drink your Morphine prescription all at once, just tell me" (she brought it up)
One day not long after that we were eating lunch (I went over and fixed food for them frequently) we looked over and she was gone.
I looked over at my Dad who was dealing with Parkinsons at the same time as this and told him she was gone.
He asked "Where'd she go?"
He was sitting 6 feet from her.

For a week after she died my Dad asked where she was about every half hour, and cried like it was new news every time. (Poor guy went through his wife dying over and over again)
He died in the VA hospital exactly one month later.

This was all fairly recent, and my Brother and I are tasked with dealing with the house and property.

Sorry for your recent losses.

I lost my 4 1/2 year old last year to brain cancer. The wife wants another kid. I don't know if I can handle that. Cancer sucks! Let your kids know you love them every day!

I lost them long before they passed away, as neither of them was the same persons I knew as my Mother and Father for quite some time.

Thanks for the condolances Ray.

You have my deepest sympathy. It is a terrible feeling not to be able to do a damn thing about it.

I hope you and your wife can work things out and find joy in your lives again. Sorry for your loss.
