I have the original exhaust manifolds that supposedly came of my '72 duster 340. When I bought the car, they were in the trunk. They were replaced with headers. My question concerns the casting numbers on my particular manifolds. According to the research I have done the casting numbers are as follows: #3614368 = 340 '69-'70 dart, Left and #3148623 = 340 '71-'73 dart, Right. My manifolds indicate a production date with the casting number. They are as follows: #3614368, production date 2.29.72 and #3148623, production date 2.16.72. How could I have manifold #3614368 for a '69-'70 340 dart dated 2.29.72? The other manifold #3148623 (right) correlates to it's production date. I just want to find out whether or not these manifolds really came off my car. Thanks for your help.

Because it's not a 69-70 manifold. IIRC the correct last three digits for a 70 exh are 549 and 553

That number is 72-73 A body 340 IIRC. The reference you used is wrong, likely mymopar.com is my guess.

If your car is a Duster 340 and it was built after the casting dates, then yes, they would be the correct exhaust manifolds

Crackedback,
Thanks for the info. Yes, mymopar.com is what I was referencing. Car was built 4/72. What does IIRC stand for? Forgive me for my ignorance, complete newb.

Nevermind...IIRC is 'If I recall correctly' I just looked it up. :read2: Told you I was a complete newb.

No problem.

There's plenty of bogus info/measurements in the tech area of that site. If you use it, make sure you ask around about anything you gleen.

Nice to see another 340 4 gear Duster around here!
