Why not here. I'm sure there's a bunch of folks that are familiar with the Poly.

Hey spl, why not try us here? There's a lot of C body lovers and owners here, we'd like to help if we can!!

Hot springs village huh?? The bride and I took a tour of hot springs village when we were younger, one of those sales tours! Beautiful place, we ate at Stubbys BBQ if I remember correctly!! Geof

I would be in the same boat as you, as I don't follow sports at all either.
Couldn't even tell you what baseball teams are in the playoff's for the superbowl. :D

This is a fantastic and very active information site though, and as 73Abodee says I'm sure you could get what you needed here.

they should ask relevant questions to the c-body crowd on average.

like:

how many wheels does a walker have?

what flavors does Ben-gay ointment come in ?

what was your first car ...hint (horse drawn carriage)

how many ounces does the small tube of Fixodent come in?

really FBBO or here is going to be more entertaining and informative.

Funny!

And being from the village, very appropriate! on the poly 318, can a newer auto overdrive fit, and what other engine can replace it pretty easily?

Welcome to FABO spl440. I have a '67 Fury with a poly 318. What specific questions do you have?
Polys were common in B and C body Mopars from '57 through '67. These engines do not get a lot of support from the performance aftermarket, but parts to rebuild them are readily available, and they can be built for performance with the right parts. Many parts from the LA series engines will carry over, but many will not.

I'm not a poly guru by any means, but the engine I built for my Fury has over 30,000 miles on the rebuild and is very dependable and runs like a Swiss watch! If you are just looking to rebuild as stock, parts for these engines are as common as the LA series. For hi-po, these blocks have been known to be bored out to .090"! Add a four inch crank to that, and you've got 400 cubes.

Four barrel intakes can be had from Weiand, although they may be out of production. You might find one on ebay. There was a factory four barrel intake available for '62. Hard to find those. The '57 Furys were available with a dual four intake. Both factory intakes used the old pot metal Carter WCFB carbs. Offenhauser had a triple deuce intake for the poly as well. Very hard to find those!

Screw FCBO! This is hands down the BEST Mopar forum going. Stick around!

a C-body is really fitting to have a big block. I would think a 383 would be more appropriate for the car and boost the fun factor.

A newer OD would most likely restrict you to a small block but there are options.

either an LA or a big block would open up your options and make parts a lot easier to score.

I am a former C-body owner (I had a 70 sport fury ) so I know they can be fun cars but the crowd that is typically into them is not as diverse as the A and B body crowd. The Abody crowd has been the most fun for me because there is a very wide range of styles and creative people here.

Any transmission that will bolt up to an LA will bolt up to a poly. The engine mount ears and transmission bolt pattern are the same on polys and LA small blocks. Oh, and don't be fooled by the "big block 318" BS. The poly is a small block. The heads are wider because of the canted valve configuration, which gives the engine the appearance of being bigger. The blocks are the same size, just different bolt patterns for the heads.

proof that FABO has it all in stop ....thanks for the info 4spd ....you learn something new everyday. I didn't realize the transmissions all bolted up.

Car will be for the wifey, will do disc brake upgrade first then drivetrain. assuming their is a inexpensive stock parts upgrade......................
